Beware the Weapons of Mass Distraction

My husband and I saw this in a recent issue of Money
Wealthy people don’t watch a lot of TV.
I can’t tell you the number of times throughout the week that I have to tell people that I don’t watch TV. I honestly have a hard time relating to people who are addicted to the latest weapon of mass distraction – The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and a bunch of others shows I don’t know about.
The weapons of mass distraction are systematically and with full intention, separating people from the whisperings of their heart. Most people could rattle on and on about plot, subplot, personality and motivation of their favorite TV show characters…but they may have a hard time telling you what they would love to do if their fairy godmother showed up and said, “Your wish is my command.”
So how about you? Would you stutter? Would you stand there dumbstruck with no idea where to start?
Honestly, I probably would. There are so many things that I want from life, I wouldn’t know where to start…So, this weekend, I’m going into silence and turning off all weapons of mass distraction. I will not distract myself from myself in any form – no reading, journaling, housework, etc. I will quiet my voice and quiet my mind. The answers to everything I seek will be found within, in the silence. I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to see how deep into meditation I can go. I’m excited about the new person I will be after the weekend and I can wait to introduce you to her in next week’s blog post.
